Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc

Coordinated Family & Community Engagement (CFCE)

Every Parent is a Teacher!

Parents are their child’s first teacher. Our program shows parents of young children the importance of fostering the cognitive, social and emotional development of their girls and boys. We also teach parenting skills for raising children.

We engage parents and children in fun activities that promote interaction and learning. Our program is a partner in the Brain Building in Progress campaign to raise awareness that children begin learning at a very young age.

Join us for outdoor programs. The best 30 minutes ever!

Parent / Child Home Visiting Program

The program utilizes a non-directive, non-didactic approach, modeling behaviors for parents that enhance children’s development rather than teaching behaviors.  The “light touch” approach employed by our Home Visiting Staff, utilizing books and toys, which are then gifts for the families, engages and empowers parents, preparing them to start their children on the path to school success, and to take pride in their commitment to, and impact on, their children’s education.

Look for Us in the Community

We serve the areas of Lawrence, Methuen, Andover and North Andover, in activities focusing on improving parent-child relationship, verbal interaction and the development of critical language skills necessary for children to be ready to enter school.  Our goal is to spread the word that early literacy leads to better outcomes and success for children.  We are always open to hear from our community partners and agencies on potential collaborative ideas.
