Parents and caregivers who are struggling to find baby formula during the shortage should read these tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics. This advice is strictly for urgent situations, but may be helpful to all parents and caregivers. WIC participants are encouraged to talk with their pediatrician about safe and appropriate feeding alternatives for their child.

Our WIC program provides good food and a whole lot more for mothers and children in Andover, Lawrence, Methuen and North Andover.
WIC offers:
- Free, healthy food
- Personalized nutrition advice
- Tips on eating well to improve health
- Breastfeeding support
- Support for infant and child feeding and care issues
- Recipes and other resources on cooking and shopping
- Immunization screenings
- Referrals to doctors and health centers
- Referrals to GLCAC programs and other community services
Who Can Use WIC?
GLCAC’s WIC office services 6,600 people:
- Pregnant women
- Breastfeeding women up to one-year post-partum
- Non-breastfeeding women up to six-months post-partum
- Infants
- Children under 5
We encourage fathers, mothers, grandparents, foster parents and other legal guardians with children under 5 to apply for WIC for the child.
Are You Eligible?
Call us at (978) 681-4960 to make an appointment to sign up for WIC. Eligibility is based on income (click here for complete income guidelines). The household income must be less than or equal to 185 percent of the federal poverty level. You may also qualify for WIC if:
- You are the guardian of a foster child under the age of 5.
- Your household receives Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) or Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC) benefits.
- You or your child is on a WIC-eligible MassHealth plan, such as MassHealth Standard.
