Community Action Award to Honor Perrault

Honor PerraultDr. Thomas S. Perrault Sr. of Methuen will be honored with the 2017 Heroes in Action Award by the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc. on Friday, April 28th at 6 pm at the Andover Country Club.

Dr. Perrault will be honored at the agency’s upcoming fundraising gala for his tireless advocacy and dedication to the Greater Lawrence community. He served on the GLCAC Board of Directors from 1977 to 2013, the last two years as president.

“Through more than three decades of volunteer service, Dr. Perrault was a hero for those in need,’’ said Evelyn Friedman, GLCAC’s executive director. “Dr. Perrault’s unwavering support has helped GLCAC provide life-changing services to the community such as early childhood education, fuel assistance and access to health care and nutrition programs’’

In addition to his 36-year tenure on the GLCAC board, Dr. Perrault served on the Methuen School Committee for 12 years, the Methuen Rotary Club for close to 30 years and has been involved in numerous civic and community organizations, impacting thousands of people. Founder of Perrault Chiropractic Offices, Inc., he has been a practicing chiropractor for 55 years.

“GLCAC empowers individuals by providing the tools and resources they need to lift themselves out of poverty and open doors to new opportunities,’’ he said. “It was an honor to serve an organization that plays such a vital role in improving the lives of families in the Greater Lawrence community.’’

GLCAC is a multi-faceted social services agency that assisted 31,702 individuals in 2016 through a range of programs including early childhood education, fuel assistance, WIC nutrition assistance, immigration services, lead poisoning prevention, child abuse prevention, English-language lessons, and consumer protection. New programs added in 2016 included the Budget Buddies financial literacy training, and Parenting in Recovery sessions, which started in response to the opioid epidemic
