Annual Resource Fair Matches Non-Profits and Families

LAWRENCE – Hundreds of people turned out for the 5th Annual Community Resource Fair organized by the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc. to spread the word about services available to help families prosper.

More than 60 vendors and organizations were on hand at Campagnone Common providing information about health, social, utility and financial services, housing, education, job training and youth programs. More than 700 backpacks with school supplies were distributed to students thanks to the generosity of the vendors.

“Our Community Resource Fair is a wonderful way for families to learn more about the 16 programs GLCAC offers but it’s also an opportunity to discover other services available in the community,’’ said GLCAC Executive Director Evelyn Friedman. “We thank all of our partner organizations for working together to help improve the lives of families in Greater Lawrence.’’

GLCAC is a multi-faceted social services agency that assisted 31,702 individuals in 2016 through a range of programs including early childhood education, fuel assistance, WIC nutrition assistance, immigration services, lead poisoning prevention, child abuse prevention, English-language lessons, and consumer protection.
