Give Thanks To Our Family Advocates

Tuesday, Nov 21, 2017

Every family enrolled in GLCAC's Head Start program receives home visits from a Family Advocate to connect the preschool children and their families to community resources.

Martha recently worked with a pregnant mother and her child who were living in a homeless shelter after fleeing danger at home. Martha settled them in an apartment at Fina House, and got them baby clothes, a crib and preschooler-sized furniture. But the most important gift Martha gave was her time. With no family nearby, the mother needed emotional support during this difficult period in her life. Being able to call Martha was a life-saver in many ways.

Another super-star Family Advocate, Barbara, has helped parents enroll in English classes, citizenship classes, driving lessons, internships and job training programs. Barbara had the pleasure of working with a young mother who went from being a new immigrant with a 3-year-old to being an employed homeowner in less than 2 years!

We are so grateful for the dedication and commitment of our staff as they work to help families toward a brighter future.

Your donation is needed to help us support families on the road to stability and success.
