Hero in Action AwardMore than 300 people attended the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council’s 2017 Heroes in Action Gala Friday, April 28 honoring Dr. Thomas S. Perrault Sr. for 37 years of service.

Perrault, founder of Perrault Chiropractic Offices, Inc. in Methuen, served on the GLCAC Board of Directors from 1977 to 2013, the last two as president.  GLCAC Executive Director Evelyn Friedman commended Perrault for steering the agency through highs and lows, and shaping it into a stable, multi-million-dollar organization that improves the lives of nearly 32,000 residents annually.

“He has an uncanny ability to get people to do the right thing,’’ Friedman said. “He led the board with affability, style and grace.’’

The gala is held each year to honor those who take action to make a difference in the lives of children in need. The event, a fundraiser for GLCAC’s children’s programs, was held at the Andover Country Club.

Perrault said his time with GLCAC taught him valuable lessons about the importance of giving back to a community.

“Service to humanity is the best work in life,’’ Perrault said. “If you can make a difference to just one person, it’s time well spent.’’

In addition to his 37-year tenure on the GLCAC board, Dr. Perrault served on the Methuen School Committee for 12 years and has been involved in numerous civic and community organizations. He has been a practicing chiropractor for 55 years.

Dr. Perrault and his wife, Sandra, have been married for 57 years.  They have five children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Alberto Vasallo III, president/CEO of El Mundo Boston served as the master of ceremonies. State Sen. Kathleen O’Connor Ives and state Rep. Linda Dean Campbell were among those who attended the gala.

Enterprise Bank was the lead sponsor of the event, donating $10,000.
