A Clean Start

Friday, Nov 3, 2017

After bouncing in and out of a homeless shelter, Isaac was determined to improve his situation. He took the initiative to find an apartment he could afford on his monthly budget but did not have enough to pay the deposit. Isaac came to GLCAC’s Community Service Center for help.

The staff at our Community Service Center are ready to help clients with referrals for many different services including crisis intervention, housing assistance, health insurance enrollment, translation services and document notarization. Our Intake Specialist, Georgina, helped Isaac apply for rental assistance through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program, administered by our partner agency, the United Way.

GLCAC had just received a large donation of Gillette personal care products also secured with help from United Way. When Isaac returned to meet with Georgina for the rental voucher, she was able to give him a large bag full of shaving cream, razors, soap, deodorant, tissues and cleaning supplies for the new apartment.

All of us at GLCAC are dedicated to assisting others on their path to self-sufficiency. We are grateful for our partner organizations like United Way, and local businesses like Gillette, that help us help others. Thanks to their help and to Georgina, Isaac will be comfortably settled in his new apartment before winter.
