Greater Lawrence Community Action Council, Inc

An American Dream

Monday, Sep 3, 2018

Juan Franklin Trinidad walked into the immigration office at the Greater Lawrence Community Action Council Inc looking for help to become a U.S. citizen.

GLCAC’s immigration specialist guide him through the lengthy and complicated process, and the agency helped reunite Franklin with his four children from the Dominican Republic. GLCAC offers free immigration services to qualifying families who cannot afford to hire immigration attorneys.

GLCAC provided additional services to help Franklin on a path to self-sufficiency.  Our staff worked with Franklin to find a bigger apartment for his four children, apply for fuel assistance, improve his English and beef up his job skills.

With a better command of English, Franklin was hired as a butcher at a local supermarket and now, he and his wife are looking to buy a house for their six children. Franklin dreams of opening his own restaurant someday.

Through Franklin’s hard work and determination, and with help from agencies like GLCAC, Franklin and his family are well on their way to seeing their American Dream become a reality.
